Course summary

Do you find managing staff challenging? Want to be a more effective leader?

The Emotional Intelligence Skill Set aims to boost your confidence in leading and managing teams to maximise their effectiveness by developing your emotional intelligence and enabling you to communicate with influence.

This nationally accredited training covers development and use of emotional intelligence to increase self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management in the context of the workplace. It includes identifying the impact of one’s own emotions on others in the workplace, recognising and appreciating the emotional strengths and weaknesses of others, promoting the development of emotional intelligence in others and utilising emotional intelligence to maximise team outcomes. This training will also develop skills and knowledge required to present and negotiate persuasively and will assist managers and leaders who are required to identify, analyse, synthesise and act on information from a range of sources, and who deal with unpredictable problems as part of their job role. 

Delivery of this skill set includes:

  • 1 hour online Orientation and Course Introduction
  • Self-paced online learning and assessment over 4 weeks (approximately 2 hours per week)
  • 2 x Full day face-to-face workshops at UOW College, Wollongong Campus

On successful completion of the course you will be awarded:  

A Statement of Attainment from the BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership and Management with the following units of competency;

  • BSBLDR511 Develop and use emotional intelligence
  • BSBLDR513 Communicate with influence

Only available to domestic students.

To be eligible for this training, you must be:

  • Minimum 15 years of age or older; AND,
  • An Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, New Zealand citizen, or eligible Visa holder; AND,
  • No longer at school; AND,
  • Living or working in NSW.

NOTE: This course will be delivered and assessed in English. Participants are expected to have an intermediate level of English language proficiency to be able to successfully complete this course.

  • Access to a laptop/computer with a camera and internet connection in order to participate in the remote/online learning component. 
  • Transport to/from and attendance at the UOW College Wollongong Campus to undertake 2 full day workshops. 

Course Fees - Nil

This training is subsidised by the NSW Government under the Smart and Skilled funding scheme and Skills for Recovery initiative. If eligible for the subsidy, the course fee payable is NIL.
