Study Arts, Social Science and Humanities

Why study Arts, Social Science and Humanities at UOW College?

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to change the world, one community at a time? Do you want to advocate for those who don’t have a voice or help people find a better, safer way of living, and give them the information they need to make better choices? Or are you interested in creative industries with a passion for contemporary arts and culture?

Arts, Social Science and Humanities courses offered at UOW College

The Diploma of Arts, Social Science and Humanities is an in-depth preparation program which provides guaranteed* entry into either the first or second year of a number of degrees in the Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities. It is the ideal program if you are interested in exploring a broad range of disciplines including human geography, public health, linguistics, history and international relations.

A Nationally recognised Higher Education Diploma qualification is awarded upon completion, which can be used to pursue entry level career opportunities.

What’s different about each course?

A Diploma of Arts, Social Science and Humanities (Domestic) is a 3-session program with a duration of 12 months. This program is for individuals who may not have met the direct entry requirements to the relevant UOW bachelor program, or the Diploma of Arts, Social Science and Humanities Fast Track (Domestic).

This course is applicable to any domestic students who are eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP).

What is a Commonwealth Support Place (CSP)?

Under a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP), the Australian government will pay for part of your tuition fees (called the subsidy amount), and you pay the rest (called the student contribution). To be eligible for a CSP for a Diploma, you must be one of the following:

  • an Australian citizen, who be resident in Australia for at least one unit of study contributing to their course of study
  • a New Zealand citizen, who will be resident in Australia for the duration of their unit(s) of study
  • a permanent visa holder, who will be resident in Australia for the duration of their unit(s) of study.

The Diploma of Arts, Social Science and Humanities Fast Track  is a 2-session program with a duration of 7-9 months. This program is for individuals who may not have met the direct entry requirements to the relevant UOW bachelor program and enables graduates to qualify for university entrance in minimum time.

This course is applicable to domestic and international students, however only domestic students are eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP).

Meet Elizabeth

I enjoyed everything about studying at UOW College. The teachers were all great as were the Peer Learning leaders, but I particularly enjoyed class discussions on interesting topics. I also really enjoyed the social aspect of the course, as I made good friends and we went to lunches and formed study groups together.ElizabethUniversity Access Program - Bachelor of Arts (Psychology)
