Project Unite

Connect, Collaborate & Contribute

We are living a world where global connections and global solutions are more important than ever. COVID-19 has highlighted our need to work together as a global community in order to solve major world issues. Project Unite plans to do just that by giving University students the opportunity to Connect, Collaborate and Contribute to real world solutions.

Project Unite is a unique hybrid study tours program. Students will participate in online English classes in the morning and in the afternoon the students will be divided into small groups, with students from around the globe, to work on real world issues in their chosen field of study. Participants will be mentored by the University of Wollongong Dean Scholars.

Group Topics will align with the United Nations Foundation for Sustainable Development Goals. Topics may include:

  • No Poverty
  • Zero Hunger
  • Good Health and Well-Being
  • Quality Education
  • Gender Equality
  • Clean Water and Sanitation
  • Affordable and Clean Energy
  • Work and economic growth
  • Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
  • Reduced Inequalities
  • Sustainable Cities and Communities
  • Responsible Consumption and Productions
  • Climate Action
  • Life Below Water
  • Life on Land
  • Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
  • Partnerships

Employers in the 21st century want students who have a sense of the world beyond their own communities. They want students who are comfortable interacting with people from other countries and cultures. There is a growing expectation that students will have welldeveloped cultural competencies for competing in an increasingly global market. Through participation in Project Unite students will develop:

  • English Language skills
  • Presentation skills
  • Confidence with speaking, reading and writing
  • Critical Thinking
  • Professional Skills
  • Independent Research Skills
  • Global awareness
  • Intercultural understanding
