Our Study Tour programs are designed to be immersive, inclusive, and academically enriching connecting students from around the world with the vibrant learning environment of the University of Wollongong.

Integrated English language programs

For individual students and student groups seeking immersive English study alongside international peers. Join open English classes with other international students for a welcoming and enriching experience.

Minimum duration: General English – 2 weeks; Academic English – 6 weeks
Class hours: 20+ hours/week
Intakes: 8 per year
Eligibility: 18+ years, no minimum English level for General English (placement test provided). English for Academic Purposes requires IELTS 5.0 or equivalent
Location: UOW College, Wollongong, Australia

Streams available: 

General English – Develop practical English skills for everyday situations, including social interactions, travel, and workplace communications. Emphasis on fluency, accuracy, and confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. 

English for Academic Purposes – Prepare for university or professional study by learning English in an academic context. Focus on reading academic texts, writing essays, and participating in discussions. 

Closed Study Tour group programs

For schools, universities, and organisations seeking a private, tailored group experience. Participants study together in a supportive environment, combining English language development with rich cultural and academic activities.

Minimum duration: 1 week
Class hours: 10-15 hours per week
Location: UOW College, Wollongong, Australia 

  • Private English classes tailored to your group’s needs
  • General English curriculum or customised curriculum with focus areas such as Business, Sustainability, Leadership, Teaching English, Community Outreach and Nursing (as requested) 
  • Academic workshops and guest lectures (on request)
  • Cultural excursions to destinations like Sydney Opera House, Jervis Bay, Blue Mountains (on request)
  • Dedicated Group Coordinator
  • Homestay accommodation for full cultural immersion 

English language customised Study Tour

Designed to meet the unique academic, cultural, or professional objectives of your group. Delivered at UOW College on the main campus of the University of Wollongong, these tours combine high-quality English instruction with enriching real-world and cultural experiences.

Duration: 1-12 weeks
Group size: 10-50 participants
Age requirement: 18+ years
Class hours: Minimum 12 hours per week (typically 3 hours a day)
Accommodation: Homestay or student residence (subject to availability)
Location: UOW College, Wollongong, NSW, Australia 
 

Afternoon sessions are tailored to your group and can be delivered in closed settings.  

Options include:  

  • Cultural excursions to iconic Australian landmarks 
  • Australian sports activities at UOW Active 
  • Guest lectures and interactive seminars 
  • Industry visits and workshops in fields like Business, Engineering, or Health Sciences

Closed English Classes – Private English classes exclusively for your group.
Integrated English Classes – Join international students in open English classes.

Morning sessions

Students participate in English Language classes, either integrated with international students or delivered privately and tailored to your group’s needs. 

Afternoon sessions

Custom-designed activities tailored to your group’s interests, which may include: 

  • Interactive seminars, guest lectures, or industry visits
  • Academic workshops in specific UOW discipline areas (e.g., Business, Engineering, Health Sciences) (subject to availability) 

Cultural excursions to local landmarks and attractions, including but not limited to: 

  • Guided visits to the Wollongong Botanic Garden and the lush Minnamurra Rainforest
  • A hands-on wildlife encounter at Symbio Wildlife Park
  • Relaxing beach excursions along the stunning Illawarra coastline
  • An interactive visit to the Science Space and Planetarium at UOW
  • A full-day trip to Sydney, featuring a guided tour of the iconic Sydney Opera House
  • Exploration of the Blue Mountains, known for breathtaking views and bushwalks
  • Visit to Jervis Bay, home to the world’s whitest sand and crystal-clear waters 

School students customised Study Tour programs

For high and middle school students seeking immersive cultural and academic experiences. These short-term, fully tailored programs combine English language learning with rich cultural exploration, academic enrichment, and local engagement-designed to meet the needs of younger student cohorts. 

Duration: 1-3 weeks
Group size: 10-80 students
Age requirement: Under 18
English class hours: Minimum 12 hours per week (typically 3 hours a day)
Accommodation: Homestay (standard) 
Location: UOW College, Wollongong, Australia

  • Closed English Classes – Private English classes exclusively for your group.
  • Activities in Sydney, Illawarra, and South Coast.
  • Academic workshops, guest lectures, and industry visits.
  • Cultural excursions to learn about Australian history, geography, etc.

UOW College Homestay is the most popular option for study tour students, allowing them to live with a local family and be immersed in the Australian way of life. Hosts are thoroughly vetted, trained, and registered with us. Safety and care of students is our number one priority. We have a dedicated support staff available to assist with any issues.
