The Diploma of Legal Services is delivered by highly esteemed practicing legal professionals who are experts in their fields. The course includes a mandatory work placement component that will be organised at reputable organisations.

This course is only available to domestic students.
Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who satisfy the following criteria:
- Completed HSC (or equivalent Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education) or international equivalent, OR
- A Certificate IV or international equivalent (deemed as equivalent to completion of Year 12).
If the above entry requirements are not met, students will be assessed on a case by case basis.
Units of Study
Students are required to successfully complete 10 units of study and a period of mandatory work placement to be awarded this qualification.

The Diploma of Legal Services is delivered face-to-face over 2 days per week for 3 academic sessions and includes self-paced activities. Students will also be required to complete a work placement component at the end of each session.
UOW College will coordinate work placements in a legal environment. Work placements will be conducted at the end of each academic session.
A range of assessment methods will be used to determine competence and to simulate the real work environment. These may include:
- Short answer/multiple choice questions
- Oral presentations
- Role plays/Moots
- Observations in the workplace
- NSW Government Smart and Skilled funding available
- VET Student Loans*
- Upfront payment by course or session
- Pay by installment plan
* VET Student Loans is available to domestic students only. Eligibility criteria apply; VET Student Loans will only be approved for students who meet eligibility requirements. A VET Student Loan gives rise to a HELP debt that continues to be a debt due to the Commonwealth until it is repaid.

Progression To UOW
Students who successfully complete the Diploma of Legal Services can apply for entry to the UOW Bachelor of Arts through the Universities Admissions Centre and receive 48 credit points of credit transfer towards this degree (2nd year).
Students who successfully complete the Diploma of Legal Services may use this qualification to apply for a number of Bachelor degrees. See UOW Course Finder for information on eligible degrees.
UOW Bridging & Transition Program
For students that wish to apply to progress to UOW, an optional Bridging & Transition Program (BTP008) is delivered by UOW free of charge for all UOW College students. This program is offered in UOW’s Autumn and Spring sessions and is additional to the Diploma of Legal Services. Students wishing to enrol in this program will be required to do so through the UOW website before the closing dates for each session.
The Bridging & Transition Program is a 24hr (total) commitment delivered over 8 weeks for students considering articulating to university which will be held at the UOW Campus. The program will be delivered by University staff and will address the skills that students will require to transition to a university environment, as well as providing assistance with their university application. The content will be delivered over weekly workshops which focus on the development of academic skills and will include; academic writing and literacy skills, note taking and effective study patterns, exam preparation, transitioning to university, and preparing an individual career pathway plan.
